Adding games to Renai.US

From OELVN Community Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

To add a game to renai.us, you must be granted staff access to the site. You'll need to bug Tom for this, by posting a message at the RAA thread. Preference is given to responsible and experienced members of the Lemma Soft Forum, and is granted at Tom's discretion.

Before posting a game, you should probably check the forums to see if anyone else is getting ready to post it. You should also check with the game-maker that posting is okay. Finally, check to see if it meets our copyright policy.

Adding a Game

  1. Log into the admin interface at http://www.renai.us/admin
  2. Click "Games", then "Add Game"
  3. Fill in the form for the game as follows:
    • Tag a short name for the game, should be one word, no spaces, all lower-case. Used as the name of the game's page in the archive.
    • Title the game's title, in title-order... so it would be "Missing Children, The"
    • Screenshot click the green plus, then upload a 128x96 screenshot. Don't worry about the height and width fields, they get filled in automatically.
    • Description a description of the game.
    • Maker first check to see if the game-maker has an entry on the list. If so, pick it. If not, click the green plus and add them.
    • Link a link to the home page for the game.
    • Release Date the date the game was released.
    • Date added to the archive almost always today.
    • Playtime the length of an average playthrough to a good ending.
    • Runs on... check the appropriate choices.
    • Made with Ren'Py check if it's a Ren'Py game. (Ignore the warning on the page.)
    • Requirements used to indicate system or software requirements when non-trivial. If a game required a particular program, you'd link it here using html.
    • Download Instructions indicate which files need to be downloaded, and what to do to uncompress them if not obvious.
    • Categories use the arrows in the middle to move the appropriate categories to the list on the right.
    • Downloads click the green arrow to add a download. Each download has the following fields:
      • Filename the file being uploaded.
      • Priority controls the order in which files appear. Priority 1 is first, 2 second, etc.
      • Use tells the use of this file. For example, "Windows Installer", "Windows Zip", "Linux", "Macintosh", etc.
  4. Now click "Save". Congrats, you've added a game. It should show up instantly.

Categories

Age

all
Nothing inappropriate for even younger children.
13
Some violence, language, etc. Maybe panty shots are okay, but nothing more.
16
Most violence. Tasteful sexual text. Nudity that doesn't explicitly show the genitals, breasts are okay, as are outlines etc.
18
Anything goes. Generally, only obvious hentai goes here.

The age rating is for the most adult part of the game. So if there's an unlockable scene that's 18+, the whole game needs to be rated 18+.

Gameplay

KN
Kinetic novels, with no (or completely unimportant) choices.
VN
Visual novels, with important choices.
Sim
A game that simulates something. Generally involve stats, and can vary the order of events in a way a VN won't.
RPG
Role-playing game aspects, like stats and fights and such.
Other
Other hybrid games.

Romance

BxG
Romance where a boy pursues a girl.

similarly for BxB, GxB, GxG. I'll create an "Other" category if it seems warranted, for stuff like GxTentacleMonster.

Genre

mystery
Games in which the player is confronted with a mystery as a major part of gameplay.
parody
Games which mock another game or genre.
